Dr. Suraj Juddoo

About Dr. Suraj Juddoo

Suraj Juddoo is an experienced professional in the field of Digital Emerging Technologies for more than 20 years, with focus on training and research, together with entrepreneurial and managerial acumen. He has been the academic head of the Science and Technology department at Middlesex University Mauritius where he headed a team of around 25 academic at Middlesex University Mauritius where he headed a team of around 25 academics from the digital technologies and psychology areas.

Since May 2022, he is also chairperson of the Mauritius Emerging Technologies Council, whose main focus is to advise government on emerging technologies use. Suraj is actively involved in research surrounding Big Data in the health care sector as part of a doctoral work towards optimizing data quality. This doctoral work explored the possibilities of machine learning and proposed an innovative methodology which could be used in the area of data engineering in general. He has been publishing in various conferences in topics related to Big Data, Machine learning and other IT related fields.

He is involved in cross disciplinary research by working with co-researchers from Mauritius, UK, USA, Brazil, Italy and China. He has been part of several externally funded research projects and is still currently involved in many initiatives such as  being country level expert for responsible AI deployment. He is currently working also with other partners in setting up blockchain and data science based commercial projects. Her is actually the country level expert for UNESCO’s project to setup ethical recommendations of AI. On the social aspects, he is an active member and past president of his local rotary club. He has also acted as mentor for secondary level students internationally with the New York Academy of Science.

About Mr. Kristyven Andy Putchay

State Counsel, Attorney General’s Office Mr. Putchay holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree with Honours and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Wolverhampton. He is an Associate Member of the CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF ARBITRATORS (UK) since 2017.

In 2018, Mr. Putchay obtained a University Diploma in the Mauritian civil code from the University of Reunion and in 2020 he was awarded a LLM degree by the Nottingham Law School. After completing the Bar Vocational Course at BPP Law School, Mr. Putchay was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2006.

Between 2006 to 2012, Mr Putchay represented the HMRC in the Bankruptcy Division of the High Court in London appearing in interlocutory applications and trials. In 2011, Mr Putchay was admitted as a Solicitor-Advocate by the Law Society of England & Wales. From 2012 to 2016, Mr Putchay was a Partner at RW Anderson Solicitors in Central London in charge of the civil litigation and conveyancing departments. Mr Putchay was called to the Mauritian Bar in 2016. In June 2016, he joined the Attorney-General’s Office in Mauritius as Legal Research Officer. In June 2018 he was appointed to the post of State Counsel at the Attorney-General’s Office.
